CG 20-10230 Tobacco-Free for Recovery

August 14, 2020 - 5:00 PM

The purpose of this Request for Applications (RFA) is to fund up to 15 Wellness Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) to reduce tobacco use and promote wellness policies and activities among individuals with behavioral health and substance use disorders in residential behavioral health facilities through the adoption and implementation of tobacco-free campus policies, implementation of evidence based nicotine addiction treatment, and other wellness policies and system changes that support tobacco use cessation. The Wellness QIP seeks to reduce tobacco-related disparities in residential behavioral health settings through grantee’s participation in specialized training and support for tobacco policy change, paired with the promotion of other wellness approaches such as increasing exercise breaks, improving access to healthy foods, and promoting socialization and activities for wellbeing.

Each Wellness QIP will implement a prescribed Scope of Work (SOW), which includes activities to participate in training and technical assistance provided by Smoking Cessation Leadership Center (SCLC) to foster collaboration among the Wellness QIP cohort of funded projects, and to accelerate the adoption, implementation, and impact of healthy policies.

Tobacco-Free for Recovery is an opportunity for California to enhance tobacco use screening and cessation treatment, as well as establish tobacco-free environments in behavioral health and substance use disorders treatment settings.

An optional Online GoToTraining® Informational Webinar will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00p.m., PST*.
